The email address is strictly cosmetic and can't be changed when the user's primary SMTP email address changes. The email address that's stamped in the root folder is determined at the time of profile creation and should reflect the primary SMTP address that's stamped on the user. The primary email address for your Microsoft account is what you use to sign into Windows and other Microsoft services. You expect the primary SMTP email address in Outlook to reflect the change, as shown in Figure 2. However, if the user's primary SMTP email address is changed to the primary SMTP email address that's displayed in Outlook does not change as expected. When a user's primary SMTP email address is changed in Microsoft Exchange Server 2013, Exchange Server 2016, or Exchange Online, the address that's displayed in the user's profile in Microsoft Outlook does not change.įor example, assume that a user's primary SMTP email address is as shown in Figure 1: Figure 1
